Living in Mazamet

…the aim of the site is to showcase the many positive aspects of Mazamet to encourage visitors, who may normally only pay a short visit or pass through Mazamet on route to another town, to ‘stay & spend’ in the variety of accommodation, restaurants, bars & shops, and enjoy the great facilities and attractions that the town offers. In addition, the site will aim to promote Mazamet as a great place to live too.

With the opening of La Passerelle, the great variety of events, the Pistre Vert, the Lac de Montagnes, the start of the Cathar trail - it is important that those visiting the Tarn (and the surrounding Departments) view Mazamet in a positive way and a place they must visit & stay.

Mazamet is perfectly located as the ‘gateway to the Montagne Noire’ and benefits from easy access from Albi, Toulouse & Carcassonne by road & rail; five international airports are accessible with 2 ½ hours, and (especially for international visitors) the Town is 3 hour’s drive from Bordeaux, the Dordogne, Provence & Barcelona and, therefore, makes Mazamet a great stopping-off point for a few nights between more well-known touristique destinations.

Why a new website when we have tourist office website?

The concept of ‘Bienvenue a Mazamet’ is to augment the good work of the office of tourisme. It will be non-political, more commercial and solely focused on Mazamet and the surrounding communes – not only that; the site will give visitors options of what can be seen in the region when staying in Mazamet and using it as a base to explore (encouraging longer stays and more money spent directly in our town). It is also the aim to try and encourage year-round visits to Mazamet and not only during the peak summer season.

In addition to the website, advertising will take place in selected digital publications that target international visitors.

Who is behind ‘Bienvenue a Mazamet’?

The site and concept are being created by Peter FRIEND. I have lived in Mazamet for 10 years and are co-owner of La Villa de Mazamet. Prior to living in France, I had 20 years’ experience in business development & marketing, as well as event management, gained in the UK, USA and Middle East.
